What We Were Working With
Two products with different rules in one cart: a doll whose disclaimers have to be acknowledged, and a digital experience with its own terms and a separate fulfilment path. The stock theme treated them the same.
How We Solved It
We built the theme so each rule sits where the decision is: a digital-terms step that holds add to cart until it is accepted and records the acceptance on the line item, a doll disclaimer at the cart before the Checkout button, and a $7 enchantment add-on offered the moment a doll goes in. Every template and setting was compared against the previous theme before publishing, and that theme is kept unpublished so a revert is one click.
The Impact
- Digital terms accepted and timestamped on the order line before a digital product can be added
- Doll disclaimers shown and acknowledged at the cart
- A $7 add-on offered automatically with every doll
- Delivered two days before the deadline, with the previous theme kept as a one-click rollback
